A new path to stimulate the immune system and fight against infections - Science Magazine January 20, 2012
A research lead by Eric Vivier and Sophie Ugolini of the Centre d'Immunologie de Marseille-Luminy (CIML - Inserm/CNRS/Aix Marseille Université) has revealed a new gene that, when mutated, stimulates the immune systems to fight better against tumours and viral infections.

Nobel Prize for Innate Immunity
Nobel Prize for Medicine awarded to Ralph Steinman (Rockefeller, US), Bruce Beutler (Scripps, US) and Jules Hoffmann (Strasbourg, France).
Recognition of Beutler and Hoffman’s “discoveries concerning the activation of innate immunity” and Steinman’s work for his discovery of the dendritic cell and its role in adaptive immunity.
Their work has opened up new avenues for the development of new therapies against infections, cancer, and inflammatory diseases.

This roundtable was organised at the CIML, in Marseilles, France, to celebrate the 10th anniversary of Innate Pharma and Ipsogen.
At this occasion, opinion leaders in economics, research and oncology, as well as directors from biotech and pharmaceutical companies, got together to share and compared their views on three topics: cancer immunotherapy, molecular diagnosis of cancer and the French biotech pipeline.
