Overall Objectives and Purpose of the role

In the Finance & Corporate Department, reporting to the Manager, Controlling, you will be responsible for managing the Financial Planning and Analysis (FP&A) activities of several R&D programs and G&A (General & Administration) activities.
Within the Controlling team, your main roles and responsibilities are the following:
  • To assist the Manager, Controlling in the organization and the coordination of the Long Range Plan (LRP) and budget processes;
  • To liaise with the budget owners to provide them with assistance in the preparation of their budgets and to ensure they respect the deadlines;
  • To assist the Manager, Controlling in the consolidation of the data received from the budget owners and the preparation of the reporting;
  • To perform the analysis between the budget and the actual figures;
  • To define and calculate standard costs.
  • To collaborate punctually with the auditors.
This role requires a dynamic and energetic person with a strong integrity and ethics approach, with the ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality and reliability, who can represent the Controlling team with professionalism - interacting with peers, colleagues, and corporate executives.



Main responsibilities and key tasks

Organization and the coordination of the Long Range Plan (LRP) and budget processes:
  • Preparation of the templates to be sent to the budget owners
  • Performance of several controls during the LRP/budget processes to check the formulas and accuracy in the Excel databases to prevent errors in data collection and calculations
  • Communication of the LRP instructions, providing guidance and adherence to the process in general and to timelines in particular
  • Definition of appropriate standard costs which will be used in the course of the LRP process
  • Suggest updates and improvements to existing budgeting processes
Preparation and consolidation of data and conducting analysis of variances:
  • Meetings or calls with the budget owners to help them in preparing their budget based on the latest actuals available
  • Provide technical support for the preparation of their budget
  • Routinely review of the figures communicated by the budget owners, identify discrepancies to address them accordingly and to look for cost reduction opportunities
  • Consolidation of the budget received from the budget owners
  • Identification of the material variances between budget and actuals
  • Analysis of these variances, classification between definitive and temporary variances
  • Ensure all budget details are properly recorded, filed, and reported
  • Collaborate punctually with the auditors
Preparation of the reporting
  • Assistance in the preparation of presentations and reports to the Management (inc. Executive Committee (ComEx))

Experience and Qualifications
  • At least 5 years of experience in FP&A / controlling activities
  • Bac 5+ Business School or equivalent; (Bachelor's degree (Master's preferred) in Finance. The equivalent of the same in practical experience is also acceptable
  • Experience in the pharmaceutical industry or within a fast growing company is an advantage

Technical Competencies:
  • Good understanding of accounting principles and their practical application
  • Ability to use an ERP, ideally SAP Business ByDesign,
  • Advanced Excel skills and proficiency in other Microsoft Office software (Word, Power Point, etc.)
