Bristol-Myers Squibb France and Innate Pharma to host a roundtable event including internationally renowned panel speakers to discuss the topic, "Innate immunity: from revolutionary discovery to revolution in therapy." Special guests, Bruce Beutler and Jules Hoffman, the 2011 Nobel Prize winners in Medicine, will join the debate which will take place on May 15, 2012 at the Oceanographic Institute of Paris, France.
Immunotherapy, especially in cancer research, is a topical issue and source of debate amongst the medical community. This roundtable will give an insight yet unexplored into the innate compartment of the immune system.
Participation in this roundtable is by invitation only. A dedicated website is now live (www.immunite-innee.com) so visitors can access detailed information on the event and submit questions directly to the roundtable moderator Philippe Kourilsky prior to the debate on May 15 which will fuel discussions. A video replay will be available online shortly after the event. Discussions will be conducted in English.
All aspects of innate immunity - from the fundamentals to clinical trials - will be covered by our expert speakers:
- Two 2011 Nobel prize winners in medicine, Dr. Jules Hoffmann from the Institute of Molecular and Cellular Biology at the University of Strasbourg, and Dr. Bruce Beutler of the Center for the Genetics of Host Defense at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical School, whose scientific discoveries have contributed to the elucidation of mechanisms of activation of the innate immune system;
- Pr. Jean-Yves Blay, Professor of Medical Oncology, Centre Leon Berard in Lyon, chairing the European organization for the research of cancer treatments (EORTC), who has developed a wealth of experience in cancer immunotherapy;
- Dr. Nils Lonberg, Senior Vice President in charge of research and development of biological drugs, Bristol-Myers Squibb, who participated in the development of the first antibody modulator of T cells;
- Pr. Eric Vivier, Director, Center for Immunology Marseille-Luminy, who is a co-founder of Innate Pharma and a specialist of natural killer cells.
Pr. Philippe Kourilsky, Chair of Immunology at the College de France and former Director of the Pasteur Institute, will moderate the discussion.
